Impartial careers information, advice and guidance is available to all of our students. Our college regularly achieves a higher than the national average number of students continuing into further education or training after leaving school.

Year 11

Each Year 11 student has the opportunity of a one-to-one career interview. Students can request further interviews until they are confident in the choices they have made. These are essential, especially if they are unsure of what they wish to do after they leave college. We can also help with college applications, which need to be completed before Christmas.

During the autumn term, students will have talks from local colleges and training providers in their weekly assemblies. They will be provided with prospectuses for the local colleges and the dates for the Open Evenings at these institutions, which usually start at the end of September. A list of all the local colleges is shown below. Please visit as many of these as you can so that your child can make a fully informed decision about where they will go next year.

Our Year 11 Careers Fair is held in the autumn term, just before half term. Please come along to meet with many local colleges, training and apprenticeship providers and employers. Check the college calendar for the date.

Year 10

Every student in year 10 will have a two-week work experience placement at the end of the summer term. This is an important part of the curriculum as students can develop and practise a new range of skills and so become more confident in their own abilities. It is also necessary for students to be well informed regarding their future employability.

Careers education is embedded into the curriculum for all students in Years 7, 8 & 9.  Work-related learning activities are arranged so that students are inspired and motivated to fulfil their potential. We help every pupil develop high aspirations and consider a broad and ambitious range of careers. For more information, a helpful website for young people and their parents is
