Welcome back! It has been a busy start back for all staff and students, with lots of exciting things to report. Antoine Hauguel joined the Governing Body in 2025 as a Parent Governor. Originally from Normandy, France, Antoine has lived and worked across Europe, and Asia, and calls Southampton home since 2018. His multicultural journey has shaped a deep appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and communityvalues he is passionate about bringing into the life of the school. As a father of four, with two children currently attending St George, one more on his way and one starting his A-levels, Antoine is deeply invested in the school's mission and future. He is committed to supporting a nurturing, values-led environment where every student can thrive. Professionally, Antoine leads global teams and oversees strategic transformation initiatives across multiple continents. His work involves managing complex investment portfolios, driving operational efficiency, and fostering leadership development in dynamic, multicultural environments. He brings a thoughtful, analytical approach and a collaborative mindset to every challenge. Antoine serves on the Finance & Resources Committee, chairs the Admissions Committee, and is the link governor for ICT. He enjoys cooking with his family, exploring local history, and cheering on his children at school events.

Celebrating Community Leadership! We are incredibly proud of our students who represented Saint George Catholic College at the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary's Black History Month celebration on Wednesday 7 October. Our students impressed everyone with their confidence, enthusiasm and commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion. During the event, Saint George was honoured to receive the Community Leadership Award, recognising over 15 years of celebrating Black History Month and fostering a community where everyone feels welcomed, valued and respected. Students also had the privilege of meeting Chief Constable Alexis Boon and hearing inspiring messages about leadership, service and making a positive difference in their communities. This year's theme, "Honouring Our Community," perfectly reflects our commitment to celebrating diversity, inspiring future generations and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive. An exciting opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience within a thriving secondary school.

Thank you to PC Adam and PC Paul from Hampshire Police for their guest talks on combatting football-related violence, in conjunction with Pol-Ed. Lots of interested student questions from our Year 9s and 10s on crime, working for the police and football related issues.

Our Year 8 students enjoyed a fantastic visit to Cadbury World on Wednesday 30 September. It was a great opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom, spend time together as a year group and discover more about one of Britain's best-known brands. A memorable day for everyone involved – and perhaps a little chocolate along the way too!

On Friday 25th September, some of our students celebrated Cultural Dress Day by wearing traditional clothing representing their culture and heritage. At Saint George, we are proud of the many cultures and traditions that make up our school family. Today was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that diversity, learn from one another and reflect our ASPIRE values of Respect and Relationships. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make our community a colourful and welcoming place to belong.

On Thursday 24 September, 11 of our students attended the Black History Month 2026 South Launch, accompanied by Mrs Smallwood and Mr Ndabala. This year's theme, "Honouring Our Communities," celebrated the diverse voices, experiences and contributions that make our communities stronger. We were incredibly proud to see the Saint George Catholic College family receive an award in recognition of our commitment to improving engagement, fostering a sense of belonging and raising awareness within our school and wider community. Our students represented the College brilliantly, meeting the Mayor, performing their poems and hearing an inspiring speech from Mr Ndabala. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the students along the way from helping them rehearse and attend events to continuing to build a school community where everyone feels valued and respected. I would like to welcome you to the 'Friends of St George'. We are a group of parent volunteers who raise funds for St George Catholic College. We do this by serving refreshments at school events and hosting our Quiz & Bingo Nights including raffles, this is a fantastic way of bringing parents, teachers and our local catholic community together. We offer a little extra financial support for the areas within the school often underfunded and encourage departments and students to assist with ideas which everyone at St George can benefit from. Over the past few years 'The Friends' have purchased Sewing Machines for the Tech Department, Bike Shed for the school grounds (requested by the students), Gazebo's & BBQs for Sports Department, Games & Equipment for our Trinity Department, and donations towards the Yr 11 Prom. We are always looking for more volunteers, so if you have some spare time to help, we would be delighted to hear from you.
