Transition

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to our family at Saint George Catholic College. I hope that you find our college to be the warm and welcoming place our staff and students know it to be.

You are joining us at an exciting time, where the college is going from strength to strength. If you needed any validation that you have made the right choice to come to Saint George our most recent OFSTED inspection judged the school Outstanding in all areas. It is best summarised in the report as “a truly inclusive and welcoming school, the school’s ASPIRE values are understood and treasured by the whole community” There is a highly aspirational culture in which pupils want to work hard and achieve well. Pupils are supported to do their best by teachers with whom they share warm and respectful relationships. Our family consists of a range of pupils and staff from different cultures and backgrounds who develop a strong moral purpose and sense of fairness. In addition to this we received a Catholic Schools inspection which judged the Catholic life and mission to be outstanding. We are looking forward to meeting you and you son/daughter who will become part of our family.

Saint George is successful because of the culmination of the commitment and hard work of our students, their families and our staff, who work together to ensure each student ASPIRE to reach their full potential. Our mission statement is that “We ASPIRE to be all that God has created us to be” As a small school we make sure we get to know all our students and your son/daughters journey starts in Year 7. Every student here is challenged to achieve their best. Every teacher and member of staff at Saint George Catholic College is determined to provide the highest standards for all students. In turn we expect and demand the highest standards from our students.

Underpinning these strengths are our very high expectations of student behaviour. We promote a very strong ethos within the college of students taking responsibility for their actions, so that they build positive relationships with both staff and their peers, and thus respect all members of our family.

Your child has reached a very important phase in their life, and we hope the information shared in this pack and the support provided during this transition will help you all. If there is any further information you require, please don’t hesitate to ask myself or any member of staff at the college.

Yours faithfully,

Mr James Habberley
