Student Success

Congratulations to our talented former Head Girl Isobel Lockhart who has been wowing the judges at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom.

Izzy recently reached the semi-finals in the British National Dance Championships, placing 8th overall in the country in Under 21s Ballroom. Izzy and her dance partner also took part in the Amateur category, which is the adult category below Professional, and made the quarter-finals. They placed 17th in the country, beating top couples including some who had made the top six in the Under 21s. Some of the stars from BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, including head judge Shirley Ballas, were there to watch as they filmed the programme in Blackpool.

Now a first-year student at Itchen College, Izzy has been selected to be on the Sport England Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS),  a dual career scheme that gives her the opportunity, flexibility, and support to focus on achieving the highest level possible in her dancing whilst also continuing with her academic studies. As part of this she receives advice on nutrition, lifestyle, sports recovery and also receive sports psychology and personal training sessions. Izzy was the first Ballroom and Latin Dancer to have been accepted onto this scheme.

Well done Izzy! We are so proud of you!
