St George Catholic College was graded Outstanding in all areas by OFSTED in June 2023. It is an oversubscribed school, with a proven track record of continued success currently ranked in the top 150 schools nationally for progress. It is a college in which we have a commitment to knowing every student and ensuring they fulfil their potential. We see ourselves as a family who are determined to get the best out of each other. In our 2023 OFSTED report it stated that “This is a truly inclusive and welcoming school. The school’s ASPIRE values are understood and treasured by the whole community. Leaders have established a highly aspirational culture where pupils want to work hard and achieve well. Pupils are supported to do their best by teachers who they share warm and respectful relationships with.” The latest Catholic school’s inspection in May 2023 also judged the school’s Catholic Life and Mission to be outstanding.
The English department plays a key role in the College’s achievement and development, and the department is a driven and cohesive team who demand the best from each other and from their students. The right candidate would benefit from entering a supportive environment with a wide range of skills, innovation and experience. There is no expectation to be Catholic and we would welcome Early Career Teachers, or more experienced teachers, to apply. This post is initially for a fixed term period of 2 years to cover a maternity leave. There will be consideration to make it permanent in the future.
The English Department is a consistently ‘Outstanding’ team of eight full time specialist teachers, who achieve outstanding results with the students they teach. 93% of students achieved a Grade 4 (Standard pass) and above, 83% achieved a Grade 5 (Strong Pass) and above, and 37% achieved a Grade 7 and above in 2023, which is significantly above the national average. The department has a strong track record for developing staff, their teaching and achieving outstanding outcomes in a supportive team environment.
