Invitation to our Leavers Prom 2022

Please visit our Events page for more information and an RSVP

Dear Parent/Guardian,

As you will already be aware, this year St George Catholic College will be having a Year 11 Prom. This is a very exciting time for both staff and students at the school.

The prom will be held on Thursday 21st July 2022. The venue is The Hilton Hotel @ The Ageas Bowl. The price of the ticket is £38. This includes the venue hire, mocktail on arrival, a 2-course meal, and entertainment for the evening. We hope that all students in Year 11 will be able to be part of the end-of-year celebration.

There will be a bar at the venue, where students can purchase additional soft drinks. The school cannot give permission before or during the event for the students to consume alcoholic drinks; if the students are found to be in the possession of alcohol, under the influence, or trying to purchase alcohol, you will be called and asked to collect them immediately. The students will be bag searched on arrival.

Parents are welcome to come and see their children arriving at the prom; if you have been to the hotel before you will know there is a lovely drive going into the venue which will be great for pictures. We will also have a photographer of our own at the event.

In order to make sure students are safe, I will need to know in advance how students will be getting home. This should be indicated on the reply slip. If your plans change, please let me know as soon as possible. Students will not be allowed to leave on their own; they must either be collected by parents, family members or have pre-arranged transport.

As this event is being hosted at an external venue, we will expect standards of behaviour to be very high. Any disruptive behaviour will result in the student needing to be collected. Behaviour must also be maintained whilst at school and throughout the exam period. Incidents resulting in sanctions at school could lead to a student not being allowed to attend the prom. This will be discussed with students on an individual basis, however we hope that there will be no need to refuse entry to any student.

If your child would like to attend the prom, please can you complete the attached reply slip and return it to the finance office/student services with payment by Friday 10th June. Payment can be made by cash/cheque; payable to St George Catholic College or via your child’s online Scopay account.

Your child will receive their entry ticket when they return the completed reply slip – Please keep this ticket safe for entry on the night. Please take this to the Student Services office at the bottom of Guadeloupe.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at ocopplestone@stgcc.co.uk .

We hope to see as many Year 11s as possible at this very special event,
Yours faithfully,

Oliver Copplestone
Progress Leader for Year 11
