Showcasing our students’ creativity

More than 300 stunning pieces of work were on display at our annual Art and Design & Technology Showcase.

The exhibition, held in the Main Hall, included a wide mix of work from Years 7 to 11, with the majority being GCSE projects and selected 2D and 3D pieces to showcase the best from Years 7 and 8.

About 120 students, staff, parents and governors visited the event on the evening of Thursday 12th July. Students and staff also had the opportunity to enjoy the show during break and lunchtime on Friday 13th.

Mrs Sumner, Head of Creative Arts, said, “There was a great atmosphere. We had so many lovely comments from parents who were amazed by the exceptionally high quality of work from school-age artists.”

Visitors to the event on Thursday evening were invited to vote for Best in Show, with the prize of a 3D printed dragon going to Year 11 student Ysabelle Foster for her photorealist painting on the theme of identity.

The school’s 3D printer was in action during the event, with Creative Arts Technician Mr Pardy providing demonstrations. Alongside this, art club students ran a stall selling 3D printed keyrings and refreshments to help raise money for a laser cutter which will be a great asset in our new block.
